Dr. Catherine Currell is a Registered Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia (#2086) and has a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University and an M.A. in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice (City University of New York). Her undergraduate degree in Psychology was received at York University in Toronto.
Dr. Currell works with adults in individual therapy who are struggling with a wide range of problems including depression, anxiety, and PTSD/trauma. She also has extensive experience working with military veterans and first responders.
Dr. Currell has had advanced training in a number of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), and trauma-focused therapies including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE).
Dr. Currell will collaborate with you to determine your best course of care and treatment approach based on your goals and needs.
Dr. Currell approaches all clients with a friendly and warm attitude and can appreciate that making the first step for help can be difficult for many. She prides herself in providing a caring and non-judgmental environment for all clients in order to facilitate and maintain her client's comfort level as they make their way through the therapy or assessment process together.
In her spare time, Dr. Currell enjoys cooking, lifting weights, and spending time in nature.
